Local

Kirkby-in-Furness: A good village website that not only lists and describes the different hamlets that make up Kirkby, but also includes details of the local sporting teams' fixtures and results.

Dalton-in-Furness Online: This is a large site giving a vast amount of information about Dalton, which prior to the growth of Barrow was the most important town in Furness. Especially good is the History of Dalton which includes much about the general Furness area.

The Furness Railway Trust: Another site well worth visiting, even if you have no interest in preserving old brown steam engines! An excellent history section describes how the growth of the railway in the 19th Century connected the slate quarries in Kirkby with the rest of Furness.
