Meeting 7.30 pm, second Friday of the month at the Methodist Chapel, Marshside. It is open to anyone interested.NewsAt the time of writing the election was three days ago and we still have no Prime Minister. Some people may well be thinking that the whole election process was a waste of time. But not for us at Kirkby. Our building has been used as a polling station for many years, first in the back hall and then, when that became too dilapidated, in the Chapel itself. For many people it was the only time they had been in the Chapel and over the years their comments were nearly always favourable, often saying what a peaceful atmosphere it had but noting that the fabric was not in a good state. However, all that changed on Thursday 6th May. The poll officials could not get over the recent renovations and enjoyed making tea and coffee and using the microwave. They reserved their greatest praise, however, for the inside toilet! They reported that everyone who came through the door made a positive comment about the work and approved of all we have done from car-parking facilities to the newly painted chapel. The following two days we hosted a “Mosaic Workshop” organised by someone in the village. They too were well-pleased with the facilities we were able to provide, but we did have to borrow tables from The Church of Christ. Hopefully, that will be the last time Ken has to collect and return furniture as our new tables are due to be delivered on Friday 14th, the day before our annual Plant and Produce Sale. Having used second hand tables, surplus to the requirements of churches in the Circuit with more money than us, we are so looking forward to having modern ones of our own. We should like to thank the Circuit Leadership Team who looked favourably on our request for tables. We hope to open our premises for regular Coffee Mornings and lunches and we can only do that if we can comfortably seat people. We hope you can visit us soon. Stop press: On a lovely sunny day we were delighted to welcome over 100 people to our church for the plant sale. We raised at least £607 and yes, the tables did arrive on time! If you would like to book the building then please ring Janet on 889459 You are invited to other events around the Circuit / PastorateStrawberry tea: This annual event will be held at Millom Methodist Chapel on Friday 2nd July from 3pm - 5pm.
