About the United Reformed Church (URC)

The URC was formed in 1972 by the union of the Congregational Church in England and Wales and the Presbyterian Church of England. In 1981 it entered into a further union with the Re-formed Churches of Christ and in the year 2000 with the Congregational Union of Scotland. We are a church which is committed to working towards unity with other Christian denominations. Dalton URC works particularly closely with Dalton Methodist Church in Wellington Street, holding regular joint services and events with them.

The small, friendly congregation of this church invites you to join them

At Worship Sundays, 10.30 am, Communion is celebrated weekly and all are invited to join in. The church has disabled access, a loop system, and large print materials available at services.
The Christian Women’s Fellowship This is held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (except July and August) at 7.30 pm in the church. A varied programme of invited speakers.
A warm welcome awaits those who wish to join us.

Congratulations to Ron and Denice for completing the Keswick to Barrow walk.
During April and May our members supported various charity collections. Our UNICEF Jars of Grace raised £173.30. We collected £438.71 for Christian Aid and our Church coffee morning in May raised £285. A sincere thank you to everyone who helped and supported these events.
On Monday 31st May our Church became a hive of activities for Dalton’s Medieval Market. The lawn was used for the reading of the Charter and the Crowning of the new Charter Queen. Our car park was used to display wood carving. Many people enjoyed refreshments inside the church hall and also on the lawn. The Bible Society had a book stall which raised £70 for projects in the UK and Overseas.
On the 27th July 2010 it will be the 10th anniversary of Garstang becoming the World’s first Fair Trade Town.
“Showstoppers” This Bible-based Holiday Club for children of primary school age will run from 9th to 13th August, from 10 - 12 each day, at Dalton Methodist Church. Please hold this event in your prayers. Help from those aged 11 to 101 would be very much appreciated. For many years Mona Penhallurick organised our initial Monday registration, for which we are very grateful. Now we need someone else in that role. We also want volunteers able to help prepare items beforehand, as well as people assisting with crafts, games or refreshment during the week. Please contact Joan (5 Elliscales Ave, tel. 466716) if you can help in any way. Cereal boxes (not flattened) would be very useful. Elsie
